Guide

Which AI app builders come with a database?

Base44, Lovable, Replit and Bolt.new all create and host a database for your app, and each also handles user login. Base44 is the cheapest of the four at $20 a month ($16 billed annually); v0 connects databases through integrations rather than saying it includes one.

What you get

What does a built-in database give you?

For an internal tool, “with a database” means the app can save records (requests, orders, scores) and show them back to the right people. These builders handle three jobs together: they store the data, sign users in, and host the app. What each vendor describes:

  • Base44: data models called entities, a separate test database so live data stays safe, CSV import, and row-level security on records.
  • Lovable: “Lovable writes the code for the interface, the backend, the database, login, and integrations.” Every project uses PostgreSQL; there is no choice of database.
  • Bolt.new: “When your app needs a database, Bolt automatically creates one for you.” You get a table view, logs, edge functions, secrets and user management.
  • Replit: PostgreSQL production databases billed by usage. The standard database recovery window is 7 days; Pro extends rollback to 28.

Not sure what you need? Describe the records your tool must keep and who should see them. That's the database brief.

How much does an app builder with a database cost?

  • Entry price, billed monthly

First paid plan, USD per month.

    1. Base44 Starter$20
    2. Replit Core$20
    3. Lovable Pro$25
    4. Bolt.new Pro$25
    5. v0 Plus$30/user

    v0 doesn't say it includes a database.

  • Entry price, billed annually

    Per month when paid yearly.

    1. Base44 Starter$16
    2. Replit Core$18
    3. Bolt.new Pro$18
    4. Lovable Pro~$21
    5. v0 PlusNot shown

Lovable Pro is $250 a year.

Running the app can cost more than the plan:

  • Base44: integration credits are used when your app calls Base44's built-in services (email, image generation, LLM calls, in-app agents, workflow steps), not when it calls an external service with your own API key. Starter includes 2,000 a month.
  • Lovable: plans include a monthly Cloud grant. Lovable says that for most smaller or new apps, running costs are minimal and fully covered by it; busier apps draw on the credit balance.
  • Replit: Core's $20 of monthly credits cover Agent work, publishing, network transfer and database storage; after that, usage is billed pay-as-you-go up to any budget you set.
  • Bolt.new: Pro allows up to 1M web requests, expanded database capacity and a choice of database provider.

Free

Is there a free AI app builder with a database?

  • Base44 Free: authentication and database functionality; 25 message credits and 100 integration credits a month, up to 5 apps.
  • Lovable Free: 5 build credits a day (up to 30 a month), a monthly Cloud grant, and free publishing to lovable.app.
  • Bolt.new Free: unlimited databases, but the site goes offline for the rest of the month past 10 GB of bandwidth or 333,333 web requests. Supabase needs Pro or Teams.
  • Replit Starter: monthly cloud credits for production databases, but the one free published app goes down after 30 days.

For a tool your team uses every day, free plans are for testing. Compare them in the best free AI app builders.

Export

Can you get your data out later?

Ask this before anyone enters real records.

  • Base44: on Builder or higher ($50 a month, $40 billed annually), code exports to GitHub or ZIP and database collections export as CSV. Managed hosting, the auth system and database infrastructure can't be exported.
  • Lovable: Export project data in Cloud advanced settings gives the database structure and data, but not stored files, Edge Function code or secrets. Lovable doesn't say which plans can use it. Code leaves through Git sync on any plan. See Lovable code export.
  • Bolt.new: export table rows as CSV or JSON, or claim the database and connect it to Supabase.
  • Replit: we haven't checked its export options, so we make no claim.

Checklist

What should you check before storing real data?

  • Who can see which records? Ask the builder to restrict records by user or role, and test with a second account. Base44 documents row-level security.
  • Can you test without touching live data? Base44 offers a separate test database. Elsewhere, ask how to test safely before going live.
  • What happens after a bad change? Replit Pro offers database rollback up to 28 days. Ask how your builder handles backups.
  • How would you leave? Run the export once, while the data is small.
  • Is any of it sensitive? Check the vendor's security and data-training terms first. See Is Base44 safe?

Decision

Which should you choose?

  1. Simplest route to a tool with login and stored data: Base44 or Lovable, both rated 5/5. Base44 is cheaper at entry level; Lovable never charges per seat.
  2. You want your own Supabase database: Bolt.new Pro, or Lovable.
  3. A more technical team: Replit, rated 4/5. Set a usage budget.

FAQ

Common questions

Which AI app builder has a built-in database?

Base44, Lovable, Replit and Bolt.new all include a hosted database. Base44 and Lovable also build user login, Replit offers PostgreSQL with Replit Auth or Clerk Auth, and Bolt.new creates a Bolt Cloud database automatically, with a Supabase option.

Does Lovable have a database?

Yes. Every Lovable project uses a PostgreSQL database, through Lovable Cloud, its built-in backend, or through Supabase. Lovable also builds login. Its docs describe exporting the database from Cloud settings, separately from the code.

Does v0 include a database?

v0 says it builds full-stack apps with authentication and databases, and that you connect databases through integrations. It doesn't say it includes a hosted database of its own.

Can I export my data from an AI app builder?
